Buy Garbage Disposal Faq

Ruth asks…
Where can I buy garbage disposal fizzies?
I am looking for the “fizzies” that you put in your garbage disposal to clean it out and make it smell fresh. I was at a party of some sort- At Home America? Tastefully Simple?- not too long ago and thought I saw them there. I can’t remember now and can’t find them.
The ones that I am referring to were more of an upscale brand and came in a variety of scents. I do use baking soda and have use lemon/orange peel. Just trying to remember the brand that I saw demo of and was hoping someone could jog my memory.

I don’t know about “fizzies” but I use a bit of baking soda, followed by vinegar. It “fizzes” just like in science class when you were a kid, and cleans out your drains as well. It is an environmentally friendly way to keep your drains running without harsh drain cleaners. I use it in all my drains occasionally to keep them clear.
Also, a bit of lemon or orange peel in the disposal makes for a nice clean scent.

Donald asks…
If you change out your sink, does it matter which style of garbage disposal you buy?
I’m replacing my sink and my garbage disposal. If I buy a disposal does it come with a connector kit to be installed with a sink, or is that usually separate? I know that some brands use a 3 bolt connector and some use a universal connecter.
Garbage Disposal Staff Says:
No,buy any style you wish

Carol asks…
How much does it cost to buy a garbage disposal?
My fiance can install it.Where can we get a good deal on one?
Garbage Disposal Staff Says:
Remember you get what you pay for.
A light weight and inexpensive unit will be loud, will do a poor job, will shred rather than grind and will clog the plumbing line causing a lot of clean up chores. The clean up consists of removing the drain trap, pulling out the shredded garbage to unclog things, and restore service. This clean up chore is something you will want to avoid as it is messy and the clogs always happen when you can least handle the added chore.
A more costly unit does not have these problems.
It is about as easy to install an inexpensive unit as a quality unit so the initial install is not the issue.
My recommendation is to look at what is available and shop around but do not look for the low end cheap ones as you will not be satisfied.
