Garbage Disposal Repair Leak Faq

Carol asks…
garbage disposal leak?
Emerson Electric model 5-71 has a slow drip out of the reset button. Easy to repair?
Garbage Disposal Staff Says:
No, the inner lining has been compromised. You’ll need to replace the unit. They are not expensive.

Ken asks…
What should I double check before renting a house?
Like:
* The owner has a home insurance (what kind of insurance????)
* The owner is responsible for any fix or repairment cost (if is not my fault of course)
* Who pays the yearly fee of HOA (home owner association)?
*Who to call if something need to be repair? (e.g. fix the A/C, a leak, garbage disposal no working….etc)
* Should I take pictures before occupying the house?
What else please????
I feel scary about renting a house… I am a good tenant and I hope to find a good landlord too.

— What does a renter’s insurance cover? —

.
— BLUE, that’s right!!
It was exactly I was talking with my husband about.
I just asked him: What would happen if we are paying our monthly rent, and one day just kicked out of the property, cause the owner has been foreclosed ??? OMG!
THAT IS SCARY…
However…thank you for the advice. I will take it.

Garbage Disposal Staff Says:
All of what you have said are GREAT suggestions (do them!)
All of what the previous responders have said are GREAT also—follow their leads.
One last thing…you did not state ‘where’ you are—but here in southern california many Renters are getting burned by owners who are being foreclosed on. The renters pay their rent and then either have to move or get evicted…make sure you go to the tax accessors office to check on your landlord. It is sad that we have had to come to this….but it is a fact in our economy right now.
Good luck
